When Learning Gets In the Way of School

A few weeks ago, a friend arranged to install a hot tub at his house.  He kindly posted various plans on Facebook, and we were able to get involved.  First, there was the cement.

That's Gabriel scraping.

I sat on the deck while the boys followed the men around waiting for things to do.  Gabriel was able to get hands on, while Xavier and Dominic got a math lesson about how concrete volume is measured.

Later, the hot tub was delivered.  Gary and Xavier went with them to help out.  Xavier learned all about that crane.  He was excited to tell me that the boom weighed more than he did and that it could kill him if it hit him.  Ah, the things that our children find interesting are amazing.

The boys were fascinated by the entire process.  I'm so glad that we were able to take the time to be part of this.  I'm also thankful to our friends for letting us be part of the process.

  1. Sounds like a fantastic learning opportunity [smile]. Super cool.

Please, be respectful. We're all friends here. We can disagree with respect.
